FCI Utility Dog Commission Update

Below is an announcement from the AWDF regarding IGP competition in the United States. The AWDF is still waiting on formal guidance on letterhead from the FCI, but as of now the AWDF clarification is as follows:

This past weekend the FCI General Commission had a meeting to discuss items associated with the working dog scene in the US. The information was then sent to Mr. Frans Jansen and read at the Utility Dog Commission meeting held after the FCI IGP Championship. This follows the process in the FCI where all decisions affecting judges, titles, etc. are decided by the General Commission.

The decisions at that meeting clarify many of the issues that have been problematic for the AWDF over the last year. The results culminate nearly a year’s worth of communication between the AWDF, the FCI, DVG Germany, and the VDH. I have summarized the outcomes of this meeting and will be posting the official document from the FCI when it is received.

The FCI has determined that for the AWDF:

FCI judges can officiate at AWDF events

Titles obtained at AWDF events awarded by AWDF judges are recognized by the FCI

AWDF judges cannot officiate at events organized by the FCI

For DVG America:

FCI judges can officiate at DVG America events

Titles obtained at DVG America events awarded by DVG America judges are recognized by the FCI

DVG America judges cannot officiate at events organized by the FCI

For UScA:

FCI judges cannot officiate at UScA events

Titles obtained at UScA events awarded by UScA judges are not recognized by the FCI

UScA judges cannot officiate at events organized by the FCI

For GSDCA:

FCI judges can officiate at GSDCA events

Titles obtained at GSDCA events awarded by GSDCA judges are recognized by the FCI

GSDCA judges can officiate at events organized by the FCI

This resolves much of the controversy surrounding FCI’s acceptance of titles offered by IGP organizations in the United States.
